Tradition as Christ’s Knowlegde in the Teaching of the Church: Maurice Blondels «History and Dogma» Revisited. This article reviews the classic critique of «extrincecism» and «historicism» by french philosopher Maurice Blondel (1861–1949). For Blondel, the history of salvation is continued in the life of the Church and the Church’s tradition as an organic continuation of what God has done in Jesus Christ. This is the very basis of Blondels understanding of tradition. Moreover, the knowledge of Christ is the foundation of tradition and any teaching of the Church is simply unfolding this knowledge.
