The Garden and European Christianity in the Early Modern Age. This article analyzes multiple examples of gardens in christianity, such as the Vatican gardens, the gardens of bishops and parishes or the monastery gardens. These served not only for supply, for representation and science, but also for physical (recreation) and spiritual purposes (meditation). However, the cultural nexus between christianity and the garden was lost over the centuries. Could the garden and christian virtues act as a counterbalance to problematic tendencies of the present day lifestyle?
