Judaism and the Unity of Both Testaments in the Work of Joseph Ratzinger. In Joseph Ratzinger’s theological work we do not find a theology of Israel in a narrower sense. After discovering the importance of the recipient in the process of Revelation, Israel – the continuous subject of the Scripture – came into his focus. In his later work, especially in his trilogy on Jesus, Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI concretised his idea of the unity of Old and New Testaments. In this context, the issue Israel is far from being part of an «interreligious dialogue». Ratzinger’s recent comment on «De Iudaeis» must be understood as an impulse for an inner-Catholic reflection.
