To Live and to Leave: Old Age between End and Fulfillment. This article confronts the recent trend towards a dominant and extensive model of youthfulness, which has replaced the traditional esteem of old age. The new has become more important than the wisdom of old. Is there a overestimation of youth, a imperative of staying young? And what does this mean for the self-awareness of the old? By way of a christian phenomenologic reflection this article shows, that there is a characteristic focus of old age towards fulfillment, which values transitoriness, weakness and passivity. Old age emphasizes that «being» means «being hold».
