Was there Millenarianism in Bolshevism and Nazism? As early as in the 1920s and 1930s commentators located chiliastic and millenaristic ideas in the ideology of communism and national socialism. This implies the thesis, that the millenarianism motives contributed to the sucess of communism and nazism. The in-depth analysis of recent research underlined this supposition. However, the significance of apocalyptic or chiliastic ideas for the consciousness of the Nazi leaders and for the acceptance of its policies among the population is still disputed.
