The Loss of God and Belief in Post-Nietzschean Literature. Friedrich Nietzsches idea of 1882 that God is dead, lead to in part dramatic reaction in literature. Shock and protest, unhesitant assumption and counter attacks can be observed. This article brings seven prominent authors of German literature into focus: Alfred Döblin, Hermann Broch, Elisabeth Langgässer, Gottfried Benn, Bertolt Brecht, Paul Celan and Martin Walser.
