Zusammenfassung / Abstract
„The Easter-image of the pope. Papal picture and papal liturgy revisited“ – During the Middle Ages the not made by human hands image (acheiropoieton) of Christ of the Sancta Sanctorum Chapel and the Pope acted together regularly in the liturgy of the holy week. By acting in these performances he showed to the involved clerical hierarchy as to the people of Rome his valid claim to be the vicar of Christ being present in his image. Since the celebration of Easter Sunday during the Holy Year 2000 a part of this performance has been revisited, now with the emphasis on the aspect of the primal papal witness of the risen Lord.
