Zusammenfassung / Abstract
‚Je déplore de nouveau les actes de ma vie, qui l’ont contristée‚. The reconciliation of Talleyrand with the Church“ – The complete reconciliation of the former bishop Talleyrand (1754–1838) with the Church had a very long history and was indeed a personal act that inevitably cast a significant light on his prominent participation in the French Revolution. According to all the statements made by the prince, the option of a Christian funeral did not play a tangible role, but almost exclusively his personal will to reconciliation. The prominence of his personality as „prince of diplomacy“ and the polarized plurality of French society of the 1830s made such a necessarily public move almost impossible.
