„The playing hand of God: The life of actors, jugglers and comedians as a basis for the meditative supported virtue acquisition“ – The Collection of Lifes of the Saints, hitherto neglected in research, „Die spihlende Hand GOttes mit denen menschlichen Hertzen auf Erden, vorgestellt durch allerhand Leben und Bekehrungen Heiliger Gaugler, Spihlleuth und Comödianten. – Samt einem Anhang die weiße Thorheit“ (1739) by the Jesuit Jacob Schmid, does not follow the classical model of hagiographic narration. Instead, Schmid uses the traditionally tense relationship between Christianity and theater for theological and moral edification and instruction in order to give the reader guidance on a meditatively supported world and self-reflection.
