Eine Ehrenrettung für die Port Royal-Ausgabe der Pensées von Blaise Pascal

Zusammenfassung / Summary

The first edition of Pensées by Blaise Pascal (1670) was criticized by the philologists of the 19th century for differing from the original text. Since then newer editions base upon Pascal's preserved manuscripts or copies of them respectively. The existing revised copy of the first edition contains both, its text and the one of the edition of Michel Le Guern. It demonstrates that the revision of the first editors was theologically, ecclesio-politically as well as literary well-considered and that it is in many respects historically comprehensible. It is a first-rate material for the Pascal adoption as well as for the theological history of the 17th century.
