Kant’s Doctrine of the Method’s of Ethics in the MM shows a surprisingly different view from the one held in the Methodology of the CRPr. The essay suggests how Kant’s philosophy of religion may have contributed to these differences. It also discusses what it means to act on “maxims”, to found a moral character and the role of human freedom as important background of Kant’s remarks on methods of moral education.
