Zur Kernproblematik des Reformdiskurses in der katholischen Kirche

Zusammenfassung / Summary

In the previous issue of this journal, Christoph Bruns entered into a critical engagement with the book Dogma im Wandel by Michael Seewald. To this Seewald responded with a counter criticism. In this article, Bruns examines Seewald’s arguments and in doing so brings up the fundamental problems of discourse on reforms in the Catholic Church: the Church’s claim to infallibility regarding questions concerning faith and morals, the outstanding importance of the magisterium for dogma, and the role theology plays in the context of the Catholic conception of revelation. In addition to the Second Vatican Council Bruns draws primarily on recent documents issued by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
